Summaries of Scientific Consensus Reports

GreenFacts summarises widely recognised scientific consensus reports, published by large panels of scientists on behalf of authoritative international bodies such as WHO, FAO, UNEP, IARC, or Scientific Committees of the European Commission.

Such consensus reports provide the current state of the scientific knowledge on the issues covered. They present not only the points on which most experts agree, but also those on which experts still disagree, and those where more research is required to reach a conclusion.

GreenFacts is aware that "scientific consensus" is not a synonym for "certain truth", and that consensus can evolve depending on the results of further research and contrary opinions. Yet, GreenFacts believes that when such consensus reports are available, they are the most unbiased source of scientific information and provide the best available basis for constructive debates and informed decisions.
