Understanding Climate Change
The core of climate change knowledge finally to be brought together in Valencia
Brussels, 8 November 2007. From 12 to 16 November, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) will convene in Valencia, Spain, to discuss and adopt a synthesised version of its Fourth Assessment Report on Climate Change. Ahead of this meeting, GreenFacts has released a faithful, reader-friendly overview of the assessment. This summary, freely available at www.greenfacts.org, offers a convenient tool for revisiting the IPCC’s core findings about man-made climate change and ways to counteract it. It shows that connections between human activities and global warming are becoming even clearer and the consequences still more apparent. GreenFacts, an independent non-profit organization based in Brussels, provides the general public with plain-language versions of scientific consensus reports issued by international bodies. GreenFacts’ summary of the IPCC’s important conclusions on climate change have been reviewed by five independent scientists – who contributed to the IPCC assessment – in an effort to remain clear, accurate and unbiased. Structured as questions and answers, the summary – available at no charge in English, French, Spanish and Dutch – guides the reader through one of today’s most challenging and controversial policy issues. In a few clicks, the reader can easily gain an overview of the complex science of climate change, get more information about points of special interest, and obtain full assurance about the reliability of the information source.
