Brussels, 7 May 2007. GreenFacts, the leading science communicator in health and environment, announced today the appointment of Dr. Patrick G. Poty as General Manager. He is replacing Jacques de Selliers who will be taking up other responsibilities within the organization of which he is one of the founders.

Patrick Poty holds a PhD in Sciences and an MBA. He gained successful management experience through his international career, working with small and medium-sized companies as well as within large corporation, at top management level.
His last position was CEO of BMD (BioMedical Diagnostics), a French company among the European leaders of advanced biological diagnostics. Previously he was Vice-President and General Manager of Noveon Inc. (formerly BF Goodrich Performances Materials) for Europe, Middle East, Africa, and India.

Jacques de Selliers, General Manager since the foundation of GreenFacts in 2001, decided to step out of the operational management. He will continue to serve GreenFacts through the management of specific projects. At the Annual General Meeting on 14 June 2007, he will be elected member of the Board of Directors with a special mandate to boost the organisation’s international development.

“After a fruitful career in the commercial sector, I am pleased being able to devote myself to a non-profit organisation in the area of health and the environment”, said Patrick Poty. “This field always appealed to me. I am delighted sharing my professional experience with GreenFacts, which allows me to further develop the association’s mission of providing unbiased scientific information on these major issues.”

“Having started up GreenFacts and ensuring its smooth running during five years”, added Jacques de Selliers, “I am delighted that the daily management is now being taken over by Dr. Poty. I am convinced that he has got the right experience and capabilities required to successfully meet the challenges for a new momentum in the development of our mission.”

GreenFacts is an independent, multi-stakeholder non-profit organization based in Belgium. Its mission is to bring complex scientific reports on health and the environment to the reach of non-experts.

GreenFacts publishes two types of faithful summaries of scientific reports: GreenFacts Digests of scientific consensus reports (under the authority of the GreenFacts’ independent Scientific Board), and GreenFacts Co-Publications (published upon request of contracting reputable organizations). GreenFacts’ publications are freely available in several languages on www.greenfacts.org. Each publication is a faithful summary of an authoritative international scientific report.

GreenFacts was created in 2001 by individuals from scientific institutions, environmental and health organizations, and businesses, who called for wider access to unbiased information on health and the environment.
