Governance – a multi-stakeholder structure
To ensure our independence from
specific interests, we involve, at all levels, individuals or organizations
with a wide range of activities and backgrounds in the environment and
health
field.
Four Stakeholder groups
GreenFacts is a formal Association of individuals, referred to as "Full Members". Our statutes classify these individuals into 4 distinct stakeholder groups depending on their background:
- Academic Institutions;
- Environment and Health non-profit organizations;
- Business & Industry Groups;
- Others (including media, government, ...).
These Full Members commit themselves on a purely personal basis and not in the name of other organizations they are affilated to.
Multi-Stakeholder Structure
Our statutes require that each stakeholder group enjoy similar voting
rights in both the
Board of Directors and the General
Assembly, so that no single group can control
the organization.
General Assembly
The General Assembly is composed of all the Full
Members. It is the ultimate controlling power of the
organization; it notably nominates the Directors and approves
the accounts and the budget. |
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is
the ultimate managing power of the organization; it notably
nominates the management, defines our strategy and controls
the decisions of the Staff.
|
Staff
The Staff is responsible
for GreenFacts' operations, websites and fundraising activities.
It ensures the production of our publications, but
it is our Scientific
Board that decides on their scientific content.
Our Staff members may have personal views, but they are not allowed
to express them publicly or in our publications. |
Scientific Board
The Scientific
Board is composed exclusively of independent scientific
experts from academic and scientific institutions.
It takes its decisions independently from the rest of the
organization.
Our Scientific Board is consulted throughout the publication process;
it validates our drafts through a peer
review process and authorizes the final publication. |
Panel of Experts
The Panel of
Experts is composed of
scientific experts from all stakeholder groups. They are
consulted for advice, or contribute to to the writing or reviewing process. |
Multi-Stakeholder Approach
The multi-stakeholder approach also applies to the partnerships we build with
different organizations and to the sources of funding we seek.
